This is another version of the image I posted above. That one was straight out of the camera, this one I brought up the shadows a skosh.
Just moments before I took the image above, the sunrise looked much different. This was taken from less than 10 feet away.
Turning 180 degrees, this is the scene during the same sunrise.
This is Arcadia Marsh. A great, great spot. Very scenic and full of waterfowl. I was driving through here for work this morning but I am planning on spending a few days down there. It's only about an hour from my house but I think renting a room in that area for a couple of days will give me more quality time to explore. These shots were taken on a causeway that splits the marsh. Lake Michigan is just over the tree line in that last shot.
I have about 40 other shots from this sunrise this morning and I'll bet each of at least 10 portray a different mood as the sunrise progressed. It's amazing to me how quickly the changing colors and lighting change the mood, portraying a new scene. You could be convinced images shot 30 seconds apart were taken on a completely different day.

Not much color in today's sunrise. It took forever to burn through the haze enough to even see it, and it was probably at least noon before the skies cleared enough to call it a nice clear sunny day. Still, it was worth pulling over for a shot at Arcadia Marsh on my way through today.
