The [Brookton] Club Hotel Door by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

The Brookton Club Hotel is now in 2021 known as the Brookton Hotel. The hotel is built in the Federation style, presumably in the early 1900s.

Western Australian hotels are required to have a sign informing all who is so interested as to the licensee of the hotel and who the manager is.

The doors in this set are from an installation that was used for retting flax.
Flax was the product from the area I grew up in.
Originally this process was done in the river Leie.
As the containers used became to much of a hindrance for the river boats and to be able to have a better control over the temperature over the water, these installations were built all along the river.
The "golden" days of the flax industry was as good as over by the time I was a child.
