I am not big on flowers or insects. There is a bee and 2 wasps (one mostly hidden). I believe the wasps have a bad attitude when you annoy them so I decided not to prod them with a stick.
I am really loving the Tamron 60mm lens, it is great as a macro lens because it is internal focussing and doesn't change in length. This type of lens increases in focal length as you focus closer to your subject while a normal macro lens decreases focal lenght. That means the working distance when working at 1:1 is about the same as a 90 or 100mm macro lens.
I think you will find macro generally easier on the LX5. I had a lot of trouble on the E-P1 (with an Olympus OM 50mm f/3.5) and previously on my Nikon, due to depth of field issues. I just couldn't get use to the much reduced depth of field compared to my old Sony DSC-V3.
The encounter before the Tamron was that I went down the path of reversing rings, extension tubes and stuff like that. It was largely a waste of time as you have a very limited focus range when you use either extension tubes or reversing rings.
