As excited as I am about my evening macro adventure that made me edit the pictures until 03:00 AM I will share only 2 of them before I fall asleep on th stairs on my way to bed. This one is one of those jumpers on water, typically still water like ponds and puddles, and has a perfect mirror reflection of itself. I had my camera basically skinny dipping the water to get as low as possible but they are very skiddish and difficult to get close enough to have good magnification. (One possible solution is a water resistant box with just a few cm height so I can get the camera under the water a little bit and get the perfect angle)
(I am finding it quite challenging but fun to shoot macro of aquatic critters) ... Time for sleep now, more pictures in the morning.

Entangled in a spider's web but not trapped, the beetle got away.

A very dead fly, I didn't know if something came out of its abdomen Alien style or was eaten by a spider and drained of its fluids.

On top of its own little world. I had to shift the composition a little to make sure the beetle was sitting in front of the bulb of a weed flower and make the insect stand out even more compared to a black background.

One of the most beautiful and simplistic moths (I think it's a moth and not a butterfly), I love the beautiful white wings with black spots.

I do like a bit less magnification sometimes to get a bit more of the environment.

It was very interesting to see how the insect was rubbing it's front legs to clear off the water droplets.

Incredible work Ovi. I can’t imagine how much patience this takes, both shooting and in post.
Thank you very much. Patience is what I have in unlimited quantity, I do love to edit RAW files because I can bring so much more out of an image that it just can't be done SooC no matter what you change in the JPEG profiles.

A Hummingbird Hawk-moth (Macroglossum stellatarum). I’ve seen a few of these day flying moths in local woodlands but this is the first one I have seen in the garden. These are some quick grab shots of him on the Lavender as he did a ‘dine and dash’ before disappearing over the hedge, presumably heading back to his mates in the woods. He didn’t give me time to set up the flash, but I quite like the blurred wings.

50 hand-held focus bracketed images. It's been a while since I have tried to focus bracket as it can be time-consuming to get the results but it can be worth it. I have cheated only a bit with this one because 3 sections of the back end of the legs were out of focus even after stacking so I have used AI generative fill to put in the missing sections but it came out quite well for me. I will try it a bit more as these kinds of results are literally impossible any other way.
