Pisgah, that's what I was thinking of. Went for a hot air balloon ride in that area a few years ago and then went to the top of that mountain for brunch.
That balloon ride must have been spectacular.

We've been down the Blue Ridge Parkway (and Skyline Drive) many times. In fact we drove through on our way to the Sea Isles on our honeymoon. Much less crowded in those days

Agfa color setting

It's actually in New Hampshire. Mt. Washington. It's got a weather station on top and an observation area. Second highest mountain in the Eastern US. Highest is in NC.

Mt. Pisgah is near Asheville. There is an inn and restaurant about 5000 feet up on the parkway.
Mt. Pisgah was my grandmother's favorite place in the world.

She had a standing reservation at the inn and would go for a week during leaf season and just sit and admire.

She was born and raised in Louisiana, the second flattest state in the US....

Fan Geyser, Yellowstone, 1992, Mamiya 645 1000s, Mamiya 55mm f/2.8, Fuji Velvia.

Fan erupts in concert with Mortar Geyser. Fan and Mortar take some work to catch. There have been several times that I've waited all day, and even into the next day on occasion, to see them. Some of those waits have paid off, some have not.
