A few weeks ago we've had quite a rainstorm in the late evening hours. However just before sunset, the clouds softened up and let some gleaming sunlight shine down.

I owned that lens a long time ago, Brian.
It was far better than reviewers would have one believe, and as you just demonstrated.

105/2.5 wide-open on the Df. I've had this lens, and the 43~86 Zoom for over 45 years. Still have the Nikon F Photomic used to make the photos above, over 40 years ago.
