The Newell Highway runs from the Victorian border to the Queensland border through outback New South Wales, about 250 Kms from the Pacific coast.

This is typical.

For the sharp eyed, see if you can spot the semi-trailer or B-double coming towards us through the heat haze. It was probably about 1.5 to 2 Kms away.

One's ability to accurately judge its distance and speed can mean the difference between life and death, if you are about to overtake a similar sized vehicle that's doing 100 kmh.

The truck, getting a bit closer.
The distance between the two shots can be calculated from the image time stamps. The truck would be doing exactly 100 kmh, as heavy vehicles are speed limited to this in Australia.

I’d be more concerned that he’s on the wrong side of the road John, than speeding! 😮
