In memory of the 16 persons killed by a 17-year-old youth in the amok that took place at Winnenden in 2009, among them 14 pupils and two adults.
I was teaching at the neighbouring Gymnasium (high school) at the time, trying to cope with the pupils' and my own trauma. The pupils from my class had friends killed and had seen kids jump out of the first floor windows in dispair. The first three days with no psychological help whatever. Instead almost 1 km of broadcasting vans of all kinds of television stations, and mobile homes of journalists of the tabloid press and quality papers standing along the street, all hunting to get weeping pupils in front of their lenses.
