First show this year. I have been so busy at the track that extracurricular photography hasn't been very appealing. One of the Funny Car owners that calls Milan his home track was asked to organize a car show in his town, about 1/2 hour west of me and asked if I could come out, as they hoped to make it an annual event. He did it a bit different and it was a tremendous hit. Instead of just street rods and classics, cars, he had street division and a racing division. He had (of course) drag cars, but also a NASCAR, mud track, and midget racer. He had some bikes and hydroplanes lined up but they didn't show. In mid afternoon they had the drag cars do a cackle-fest, which the crowd loved. Not bad for a first attempt.

It was a fun event with some classic (and not so classic!) iron. I also had the opportunity to meet and BS with a Top Alcohol Pro Funny Car team who are partnered with Shirley 'Cha-Cha' Muldowney.

100+ images in the Flickr album.

A couple of Corvairs (the family owns 14!) and a '69 Mustang, also owned by the same family.

This 1971 Torino Cobra has been owned by the same person since it was purchased new from the Ford dealership in the same town as the show. These are pretty tough to find and were only made for about three years. This car is 100% original and won best of show street class.

A very cool Midget Racer. The Owner had a binder with all kinds of historical information, including shots of Al Unser Sr. in the car. This took second place.

I had to set the camera on the street in order to get an up angle shot of this Ratrod lowrider pickup.

I was halfway set to go to the Belmont Shore car show which is a BIG annual event here in SoCal, but then it started to rain @5:30 this morning. I'm not sure if it's a rain or shine event so I'll stay home and watch the Indycar race from Laguna Seca.

I was at a Vintage car rally yesterday and a friend of mine brought his along. He has spent a lot of time and money to get it looking like this.
This is a Mercedes Benz 770, a 2 seater convertible from the 1930s. This model of cars were used extensively by Adolf Hitler, but his were much modified and had extensive armour plating.
