I reckon it's nearly always been gloomy on my visits there over the years!

On New Year's Day 2023 there was a persistent sea mist from Pt Macdonnell to Cape Banks, and it was hot.

On New Year's Day 2023 there was a persistent sea mist from Pt Macdonnell to Cape Banks, and it was hot.

Smack bang in the middle of your pic, I was chatting to a "local" who moved to the area (well moved to Mount Gambier) 9 months ago and regularly came out photograph there.
