The waves breaking at Maiden's Cove this afternoon were enormous.
My daughter and I sat next to a tidal pool for a while just watching set after
set rolling in. This is a short sequence taken with my cellphone

The surfers at Marengo reckoned that the big waves there were up to 6-8 metres, peak to trough. I believed them, having observed them for many years.
We had several boats wrecked in our time there. A yacht on Little Henty reef, and a fishing boat with two fatalities on Cape Marengo itself. Very treacherous waters.
