Show ships - vessels - boats - yachts - submarines - whatever ...

HMS Belfast. I remember when I was in shorts seeing this on an infant school trip in the 70s and am sure it's been on display longer than it's been in use.

Did you know that the 6" front guns of the Belfast are trained on Scratchwood Services on the M1 ? (now known as London Gateway Services, apparently). I haven't used that service area for years, so I don't know whether it's particularly worthy of naval bombardment. But after a bit of Googling I've discovered that it was chosen as a the target because it sits nicely at the guns' comfortable range of about 12 miles.

Something to think about next time you fill up at Scratchwood anyway.

I certainly did not know that and I'll look on that ship a bit differently next time I pass it. You'll probably agree with me that a stop off at Scratchwood Services is not on the agenda, not unless the car was just about to run out of petrol.

Captured with a full spectrum camera, but the sub was basically this color. No idea how a person would fit inside this tiny capsule.

There are probably two seats which are literally on the bottom of the cylinder. This would put your eyes at the level of the portholes.

I can't image this thing has much positive buoyancy. When it is in the water I would bet not much is above the surface. You would have to be very careful about opening the hatch in rough seas, lest you flood the hull. That's what known as a bad day in the submersible world.

Recreational submarines are an interesting phenomena. You see some that are very well thought out and constructed and others that are one mistake away from being coffins. I suspect this one is somewhere in the middle.

Always interesting to see what small-scale engineers come up, but there's no way I'd get into that thing!

I see they spared no expense on a tongue jack! I love the upside down sink drain trap fixture affixed to the aft end of the sail too. This thing screams quality. I can see this in Hunt for Yellow October coming to a theatre near you soon.
