Wow. That’s going to be chilly. I love swimming more than most but I’d never venture into those waters unless at the absolute peak of summer and it’d still be cold. So I have to admire that guy.

There were about 10 of them out there at any given moment, and yes, the water is cold. You can see the ice still hugging the opposite side of the breakwall. The tan coloring is sand, which was blowing hard off the beach in the 50 mile per hour gusts. I had to give up shooting after about 15 minutes because I was tired of being sandblasted. That was yesterday and I'm still pulling sand out of my ears.

11 years ago today, taken during a long hike through Holly River SP, one of WV's most remote and rugged state parks. I was carrying a rented Fuji X100S - my first experience with a Fuji camera. I stopped at this spot and fished for about 30 minutes, and caught & released a small Rainbow Trout.
