If you're like me, you'll have a bunch of pre-digital photos. Lets see them :)

Most of these were taken with either a Pentax K1000 + cheap off-brand zoom or an Olympus mju zoom or mju II. I had only the vaguest idea of film, metering, filters or lenses - the little Oly pocket AF cameras did a much better job than my rather inept manual shooting on the Pentax.

A couple from Sydney (mid-2000 from memory)

A friend of mine in the DJ booth at a uni student radio station in '89 or 90. Pretty sure this was shot with an Olympus Pen S (inherited from my father who used it in the 1960's) and some Kodak film.

Lots of carts & vinyl. May have been a solitary CD player hidden away in a corner somewhere. Fairly certain this was a graveyard 12-6am shift - lots of phone in requests from student parties up until 3.30-4am and then its deathly quiet for a few hours until dawn breaks and the morning crew takes over.

Back in the early 90s, I tried to take a picture of our house on the same day of each month, at the same time and from as close as possible to the same location, for one year. I don't remember what the film was, and the negatives are long gone, but I'm sure it was Kodak. I do remember standing at the end of the driveway, holding the 35RC to my eye while holding a previous print in the other hand, trying to get the framing the same. I won't inflict all 12 on you, but here is one from each season:

Nice! I'll have to give this a go.

Maybe combine them into an animated gif ?

Not my old pictures but my dads. Have been scanning old slides. Mostly 1968/69 with a few from Aussie in the late 70's. Half-frame on Kodachrome or Agfachrome, probably with an Oly Pen S.
I didn't do much processing other than a bit of straightening. I think they hold up pretty well for being 50+ years old.

Part 1 - Mix of shots from Scotland, Holland, Belgium, Singapore.

Part 2 - Mix of shots from Scotland, Holland, Belgium, Singapore. A few from Perth in '78 on 35mm - probably a Pentax K1000.

Good Evening,

These are film scans from a Canon F-1n, using Tri-X (400 ASA/ISO) with a FDn 28-85mm f4 and an FDn 500mm f4 L lens, both of which I still have. This was one of the many Special Forces "Leap Fests" that I attended and/or was a jumper in to complete the four-person teams; there were teams from most US states and from our NATO allies. The very last image was an unfortunate PLF; that team got caught up in a rogue near-ground level wind shear. That soldier was taken out on a backboard, probably with back/spine injuries. Another team member had to get pulled out of a huge Douglas Fir tree with a ladder truck, the third landed on the roof of a house and managed to break his leg (got wrapped around the chimney). The last one had a near-miss with traffic as he landed in the middle of a state highway...he was very lucky!

Scanned in with a Canon CanoScan FS-4000US (with SCSI interface - Adaptec card).

Regards,

Edd

Good Evening,

This is a scan from my Rolleiflex f2.8 (Model E) that I had with me during the crazy times in SEA from about 1970-1973 (+/- a few weeks). LeiAn was making a "sweet treat" which was sugar coated rice fire-roasted in hollowed-out bamboo. The place was the in the capital of Laos, Vientiane, just about 2Km from all the embassies/diplomatic missions; PRC, PRK, PRNV, USSR and the all the rest. Since Laos was a neutral country (Good Lord...) the unwritten rule was everyone played nice while downtown. Venturing outside of the "Ring"...well then all bets were off.

Regards,

Edd

Good Morning,

This was from my first trip to Death Valley (Rhyolite) in 1974 while stationed at Edwards AFB. This was what was left of the "Cook Bank" building, similar structures in the surrounding area were even worse. I remember a train station also, but may have misfiled those negatives. Shot on Kodak Verichrome (ASA 125) with my Rolleiflex f2.8 (Model E) and a medium orange filter, scanned with a Canoscan 9000 which has been replaced with an Epson V850 Pro (love that scanner for MF & LF film).

Edd

Good Evening,

I'm continuing to scan a series of Kodachrome's that I shot at the Rhyolite ghost town in the northern end of Death Valley back in the early to mid 70's. I am amazed at the long-term stabile color and contrast they still retain to this day.

Regards,

Edd
