The image is washed out because.... everything was washed out.

Day 6 Outtakes
My first actual shot that I took of these tiny flowers. I like the lighting of this one better except that the other flowers were facing the other way and I wanted to stop-down for more sharpness.

Outtakes, Day 8
The shot which I posted today, Day 8 (of this tiny metal toy vehicle, in front of the old radio that belonged to my grandmother) was both closer on the van - had less depth of field - and more contrast (including some blown highlights). But this was an alternate shot - first in color---
Then processed in monochrome (with a Silver Efex conversion)---
But overall, in spite of its (more excessive) contrast and blown highlights, I prefer the image I posted in the main thread.

Me too - I was surprised at the middle image. The profile did a nice job emphasizing the cool tones of the evening sky while at the same time emphasizing the warmth of the reflected western sky in the buildings.

Day 8 Outtakes. Red Deer was the host city for the 2019 Winter Games which bought many visitors to the city for two weeks in February. This was the memorial plaza and head office for the games management etc. The cranes are working on the new Justice Building which is to replace the existing courthouse.
