Single In Single in September (SiS) 2023 - day 10

SIS day 10 Tribe eatery in downtown Red Deer.

We ventured into downtown today and walked around for a little while. It was a pleasant sunny afternoon with quite a few photo ops presented themselves to us. The red gates grabbed my attention straight away as this part of the main street has been turned over to a patio area for the various restaurants along there. The cold beer and wine were also begging for attention :D.

The rats, they grow big around here... more seriously, I pulled into the park and this doe was grazing in the frisbee golf course while people were playing. She didn't care about them or me. When I left a little later, her almost grown and spotless fawn had joined her. Park in a medium sized city must be about as predator free as it gets.

I walked a large car show today with just my SiS gear, to explore automotive details at 105mm. So here's a hood ornament from a 1930 Packard 734 Boattail Speedster. This is a very rare car: according to the owner, only 39 of the "Boattail" limited-edition models were built, and just 6 are known to still exist.

Hopefully, the last of the unplanned inside shots (except for safety and foul weather shots). If the weather forecast holds, it looks as if the heat has broken and the week's highs are lower 90s and upper 80s (32°C, +/- a degree or so). Hope to be back out and about again.

Not sure about this one or the outtake, I thought the texture and lines would do it for me but I think color would have been better. Cropped with adjustments in post to tilt, exposure, shadows, black level, resized for web.

This is simply a brilliant photo, Gordon. Even more so, considering the relatively high ISO (1250).
When I look at this photograph... it's hard to fight back the irrational urge to run out and acquire a K-III monochrome.
It really does render quite wonderfully.
