Day 11
This morning I was visiting the house of my older son and his wife - and they have a collection of eclectic and intriguing tiny dolls which populate either their windowsills, or occasionally sit inside the ceramic flowerpots or planters which also live on their windowsills. I took a whole series of images and my favorites were the first in the series... and the last. But I like the first a bit more so... here it is!

Iāve been fascinated with the work of Ernst Haas and Saul Leiter recently. They both created great images without the need for corner to corner sharpness or AI noise reduction. They both impressed their artistic intent on what was there in front of them. And color was a part of the composition. They were not nicely composed b+w images with color. Color was a part of the composition. They both shot Kodachrome and used dye transfer printing. A complex process that gives a lot of control over color contrast and saturation by producing color separations. The last couple of days Iāve shot to jpeg (my transparency) and "printed" by adjusting color saturation and contrast to try to get a feel for how they worked.
