One sees this everywhere, in every small town I've been in, or through.

Technically, old fire hydrants aren't just limited to small towns - one sees them everywhere, including larger urban metropoli - but the ones in old towns often seem to be truly well-weathered. Like they've been through a lot, but are still, somehow, hanging in there.
