Most small towns I've been in or lived in have at least one vacant dirt lot with one or two dinosaur-like non-operative ancient pickup trucks. Also, depending on the particular town, you can usually also find at least one ancient rusted Volkswagen corpse - and one rusting cadaver of a Volvo that must have been someone's daily driver back in the 60's.

This ancient rusting Volvo is parked in a dirt lot just outside of Ashland, Oregon.

Great photo. I miss Oregon, even though there's plenty that I like about my new digs. And I have to say, the Pentax rendering comes right through in that shot, both the KP sensor and the excellent lens.

Ohio, where I live, is chock full of small towns, so I like the idea of this thread. Thanks Miguel!

The village of Creston has a little over 2,100 residents and, as small as it is, is still located in two counties(Medina and Wayne).

Large and spotlessly clean inside. Coffees are fine, but the food and pastries are, on the whole, excellent(the sausage gravy is outstanding and routinely sells out each day).

This is a Christian coffee shop and has a stage where Christian bands play on Saturday evenings. The one time I was there, when a band was playing, I had to hurry and leave. Although I'm not a religious person, the Christian music wasn’t why I left. In fact, my favorite guitarist plays predominantly Christian music. Pet peeve(and the reason I left)…like almost every similar sized venue, with amateurish musicians, the music was too damn loud! Of course, I’ve run into this my entire life, so it wasn’t surprising.

Deposits from horses, in the parking area for Amish buggies. Other than this(which is understandable), the streets and sidewalks are practically spotless.

Old School - not your typical corporate cookie cutter CVS drugstore. It doesn’t even have a drive-thru.

I know there are plenty of pickup trucks in bigger cities and larger urban areas, but somehow, small towns always seem to have at least one or two really old pickups sitting on the street. Often in an out-of-the-way lane which runs alongside the edge of town... like this one, in my hometown of Talent, Oregon.
