A Local Raptor Rescue Released a Snowy Owl over the weekend that they had rehabbed over the last two months. The bird had a broken wing and was emaciated when it was found.

Two months of expert care brought the Owl back to being healthy enough for release back into the wild

A local Tribal representative was on hand to give the owl a proper native American send off. She performed a service and a prayer, chanting words none of us understood.

The Snowy Owl however seemed to understand every word and turned to her before taking off as to say 'thank you and goodbye'.

A quick glance at the ground below and the Owl was off.

Pumping it's wings as if there were never an injury the owl soared off.

After a few flaps the owl seemed to settle into a nice glide back to it's previous life.

It was truly a moving experience, especially when the owl seemed to connect with the woman who would set it free. Since watching the event I can't help hearing the song "Return to Innocence" play over and over in my head. It just seems to capture the feeling of that day...

Here is a link to the music...
