This church is just a couple of miles from my house. The place is called Buttsbury and was mentioned in the 1066 Domesday Book. The church dates from the 1200's. Although Buttsbury no longer exists as a village (and no-one knows what happened to it....there is no record) the church is still well used by the wider community. There is a view from the high ground on which the church is built; across the River Wid valley to the estate of Lord Petre of Ingatestone.

I am liking this camera very much indeed.

it's funny that I have no use for churches for the reason they were built, but I LOVE photographing them and looking at photographs of them. Nice set, Pete. You and that wee Sony seem to be hitting it off.

Thanks Luke, I sometimes go to this church for its silence. Apart from a Sunday it is always empty but door open. It seems to block out or mute modern life and allows you to think, reflect....chill dare I say. Not for a religious reason....but because silence seems to weep from its ancient structure.
Pete
