Sony Showcase Sony A7 and 7r Image thread

thanks to both of you. can either of you, or anyone, compare the A7 low light high iso to the rx1? they appear to literally be the same sensor, and in Capture One i get very littke grain up to 6400.

I don't have A7, but RX1 is a little better per dxo since it doesn't have the phase detection sensors. So far phase detection sensors resulted in lower high iso performance in Sony sensors based on dxo scores. I didn't compare it in real life, but I use iso 12,800 w/ RX1 and A7R. Maybe I am not that picky coming from m43.

Sony A7 vs Sony A7R vs Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1

Very impressed with how the A7 handled bright sunlight in winter conditions and single digit temps! But rather difficult to use the viewfinder effectively in bright conditions. But love the camera!

Some happy holiday snaps one would have taken with much inferior gear a few short years ago. Camera technology has really advanced. A7 with the not so crappy kit lens. We did an ATV tour and the A7 and lens could really prove its dust and moisture sealedness. I think the A7 with the kit lens is almost a bargain.

Hi all, some great shots here! I have my A7+35mm and 55mm primes scheduled for delivery this Friday. After owning an M9 for a short while I'm really missing full frame. Just curious, are you finding the jpegs to be sufficient or are you shooting RAW and post processing? I'm using Aperture but would be willing to switch to Lightroom if need be. Any tips you can give about this or the camera itself would be greatly appreciated! Loving what I'm seeing out of these full frames!
Thanks, Kris

Here's a few pics of my first few outings with the a7r and 55 1.8. I had the 35 as well, but it's not one of my favorite lengths so back it went until I can find something wider. LOVE this camera!

From my walk along the Thames Bank around Rotherhithe today, during low tide. A7 + FE 35 and 55 lenses. For those who don't know the dramatic architecture in the first two frames is London's Canary Wharf.

Great stuff Jay!. how do you like it?

Thanks Chris. I definitely have no qualms about the output. :2thumbs:

The camera itself on the other hand was like an exact 50/50 mix of stuff I really liked, and stuff I wasn't as crazy about. If possible I think I'm actually more confused after renting and using it for a couple days, lol.
