The A6600 and A7C are a surprise, but due to chip shortages. The other two needed to go anyway, there are generations newer now.

Sony Sony announced it halted the production of the A6600 and A7C. And it will no more produce the A7II and A6100 cameras

Surprised this has not impacted any of the other camera manufacturers, since most buy their sensors from Sony. I guess Sony profits through them and their own high-end models are more lucrative than in the lower tier cameras.

'Chips' doesn't necessarily refer to the sensor, in fact it's probably some stupid little thing, like a time and date chip.

The Sony Alpha Rumors link above references sensors shortage however. Not sure if that's fact or an assumption on their part.
True. I've been reminded that English is not the first language of the person who writes the rumors so I take that into account.
