Bobby I like the poses and the eye engagement. I am wondering about the high detail on the left cheek in the 1st shot and the bottom lip, and just below, on the 2nd. Is that simply lens sharpness?

Yes, that is from lens sharpness. And this is after some very mild skin smoothing. I've read on some sites that the higher level of detail in the f2 lenses makes them not as desirable for portrait work. Of course that could all just be the typical internet nonsense. I like it, preferring more detail even in portraits.

You can always lose detail in post, but you can't add it...

I prefer the detail in my work. And the f2 primes are delivering like champs.
