I have the LX-5, and as expected, I have switch on the camera with the lens cap on, and sure enough, the message on the back of the screen says to switch off first take off the cap then switch on the camera.
I have access to another LX-5, and I find that when I switch the camera on with the lens cap in place, it tells me to take off the lens cap and hit any key, and sure enough, the camera continues its initialization and ready to take picture! I check the version of the firmware, and both were ver 1.0!
Has anybody try this? It looks like my LX-5 may have a somewhat older firmware but don't have the need to switch off then on...
