Sony quietly updates the a7R III, a7R IV with improved LCD panels

The slightly-updated models have had an ‘a’ appended to their models to differentiate them from their original predecessors.

Sony replaced the 1.44 LCD panels on the A7R III and IV with 2.36 ones and added an “a” to the model name, e.g., A7R IIIa. It appears to be the only real change. Speculation is they ran out of the lower rez screens and they need all they have for the A1.

It kind of suggests no meaningful updates for the A7r line for a while. I wonder what this will do to prices of the standard A7rIII and A7rIV. Maybe that's what the recent sale was all about.
