Harvard Square yesterday afternoon. It's graduation day, so we're positively overrun with moms and dads from across the globe bustling about in semi-formalwear, toting massive dslr's. I stopped on one busy corner and popped these off in about 4 minutes, then packed up and left to pick up my daughter from school. WHOOO god the 56 is a wonderful lens. Working on getting more "humanity" into my pictures. I tend to be very cold and dead, just showing "stuff." This is me setting up a scene, then waiting for humanity to enter it. Baby steps.

I generally prefer wide angle stuff where the shooter is clearly part of the crowd, but this one really REALLY works for me. Just a lot going on, the guy is clearly the focus and he's got something else going on in this scene besides JUST riding.

Good start. As you get more comfortable, wade in there with the 23 and then eventually the 14...

(chuckling) I already felt "too close" with the 56, at some points. But I know what you mean, and I can imagine what to do. Actually DOing it is something else.

As for that guy, I saw him coming, and was able with two flicks to put the XT into 8fps and CF. So as he approached, I got about 5 shots. As usual, the first wasn't focused right but the rest were. I liked and saved two of them, and this is the one where he's closer to me.

This kid's gonna be Mick Jagger. That's Keith in the back scowling in the sweater vest and Charlie with the coat and tie and hat. And his little sister may grow up to be Biancha, which is deeply disturbing but she's got the glamour thing down. Sorry - I just read a book about the Stones and have 'em on the brain...
