Summilux 25mm 1.4 with Olympus E-PL1. This was very close to our hotel.

You took the venerable E-PL1, with a great lens. The m43 version or an adapted M?
The Summilux is a M 4/3 lens. I bought it used. It is really a Panasonic lens even though it sports Leica on it.
I bought the E-PL1 (with zoom) for $150 brand new and with warranty from Tamarkin. It was available for $100 new without a lens then.

Either one is a great lens. No slouch to the camera-lens pair as seen from your shots.

For travel m43, I do like the 12-32mm Panny for a sharp pancake zoom and the 20mm f1.7 Panny for sharp pancake prime with great bokeh. (Although the last trip was Madrid with a fuji X-E1 and fuji 27mm pancake: APSC, in-line evf, compact rf form-factor ... so many choices!!)

I'm getting too old to lug around heavy cameras. My new travel outfit is a Panasonic GX85 (a really remarkable device), the 25mm Summilux Panaleica lens, the 12-32mm kit lens (really a sharp lens) and the Panasonic 7-14mm f/4 lens. (a beauty, got a crazy bargain).

I do not miss any of the "weighs a ton" equipment. I will take the above outfit to Japan this summer. (I'll also bring an M9 and some esoteric lenses, but this will not be my "everyday" shooter. It will stay in the hotel except for some expeditions to meet other camera weirdos like myself.

Raid, your Rome photos are excellent, and good subject matter.

Great photos from Rome, Raid. I just spent 3 weeks in Vienna, Salzburg and Prague. Took my E-M5 first version, 25/1.4, 20/1.7, 45/1.8 and 14/2.5. I love the 25/1.4, and usually use it most of the time. Which stands to reason, because I am a 50mm person when shooting full frame. But for some reason, on this trip, I used the 20/1.7 most of all. Some days I just put it on the camera and left the rest of the lenses in the hotel safe. Maybe the streets were skinnier where I was. :)

Hi Peter,
Your 20mm lens gives you a 40mm view, and this is most likely a very practical focal length for European cities that often have narrow streets. I do not own good M 4/3 lenses other than the 25/1.4.
Thanks.

Not a bad price. Very small, very lightweight. Brilliant on an M 4/3 camera. If you took this lens and the Summilux 25mm f/1.4, you would have a very useful travel package.

I just took those two lenses to Vancouver and took wonderful photos.

You might get it a little cheaper if you bought it used, but $165 is a good price.
