I would pay for a large print of this picture on matt paper, the forest looks so haunting with no top foliage and the clean snow with no footprints in the foreground, the foggy look to the sky and the far distance forest, and the two beautiful deer just there, smack down in the 2/3rds of the frame. Amazing picture.

The only distracting element I can notice is the bright orange tree bark on a few trees here and there that is competing for attention with the wonderfully muted look of the entire picture.

I seriously love this photo as well. It was a chance shot, we were driving through the forest during the first snowfall. This area had a fire a couple years ago. Here is the other photo I was able to get in that same spot. The photo you like, is the one right after this one, where most of the deer took off running into the forest before I could get a good shot. The conditions that day were incredible.

I'm learning a lot as I go find places to shoot. I'm no professional, and I have zero formal training, never taken a class in photography in my life but I love taking photos of wildlife.

At the "Goat Conspiracy" a local goat farm and creamery. Fantastic cheese from happy goats. (I wished my A7III had "goat eye autofocus." )

Caught the local wildlife wandering through the property about an hour ago. If only the term "Starving Artist" wasn't so true, I would quit my job and just travel and photograph things.

The squirrels have joined forces with the birds to stare in my window and remind me the bird feeder needs replenishing. I could swear I hear empty sunflower seed shells hitting the window when I'm not looking.

If they only had a camera, they'd be able to show you how silly I looked when I shot this today. My camera strap was all twisted around the lens. It took a half a minute to get it untangled and hung around my neck when I got out of the car. You can probably tell by their expression.

That's why I never use a camera strap any more. I found that wrist straps are much more usable when actually taking photos and really help stabilize at the same time.

Well, it gave them something to stare at. The first time I looped it over my head I almost strangled myself in what I'll call the Jeffrey Epstein maneuver.

I also wrap the body strap around my lenses. It avoids that embarrassing sound of glass breaking when one accidentally hooks the loose lying strap, dragging camera and lens onto the hardest surface within reach ... .

No matter how careful one is, this happens to all of us, sooner or later. Fortunately, none of my very rare experiences of that have caused any kind of damage. For the last 5-10 years, I've always wrapped the strap around the lens. It's now become second nature to me.

My only camera with a wrist strap is my minute E-PM2 with 14-42 EZ. I have fairly bad arthritis in both wrists.

For some reason, it's difficult to find frogs in my area (or I don't know where to look for them, both possibilities exist in my little box, just don't open it) BUT I found, for the first time, frog eggs ... or at least I think they are:

In the middle of a field with quite a lot of water and puddles, I came across this little slimy bunch, sitting out in the open, only a few hundred meters away from hungry Egrets.

I can't see any wiggly tails so I'm guessing (again) that they are early in their development. On the right side, it looks like something took a chunk out of their little group as well.

I wish I had my little tripod with me because it was hard to get enough of them in focus without going to the Tamy 28-75mm G2 wide end, which would make them quite small in the frame (fitting for their nature but less interesting when I wanted their little group to be the main focus and details). I should have tried f 16 at least. I can't wait for the spring update for Sony a7 Mark IV to get the automatic focus bracketing (FINALLY !!!).

Funnily enough, I was walking the dog last night when something caught my eye. It was pretty dark so I stopped to get a closer look. I couldn't believe it when it turned out to be a frog. We have just had about 6inch of snow over the last few days and it has only just thawed so I was quite surprised. I dashed home and got my phone to take a quick shot, it's not very good due to my aging phone.
