One of the stags on Big Moor during the current rut. I was sitting on a prominent rock (known as the Hurkling stone) at the end of a drystone wall when this chap barrelled past. He doesn't yet have a group of hinds, he's what you might call a "satellite male" - one who orbits groups looking for opportunities to steal a few hinds or even challenge a presiding male for a whole stand.
In this instance, he took exception with one of a pair of stags that had just crested the ridge from the south. A short locking of antlers ensued, but this stag was ultimately victorious; something of a hollow victory though, as neither had any hinds to gain or lose.
Also, my first image to end up on Flickr's "Explore" - a nice feeling, even if I'm not entirely sure that Explore isn't just random

I found a young family of deer, the stag is only a few years old, I have come across them before but it's been a few months since I've seen them again.

They were very far away and the morning was pretty cold, the temperature differencial ruined the sharpness and clarity/contrast.
