Animals The Animal Kingdom: wild or domestic!

As cold, gloomy weather moves back in, the critters have been busy feasting in the front yard.

Teenagers - Costaros - Chemin de Stevenson-2018-D2-28
by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

A gathering of horses at Costaros. We actually didn't see many horses on the walk; donkeys seemed to be more common.

Day 2 of 12 - Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille to Le Bouchet-Saint-Nicolas: Walking the Chemin de Stevenson (GR 70 Robert Louis Stevenson Trail) in the south of France

In May 2020 we went for a local walk around the countryside in our parish. We walked into a field and I saw 3 fox cubs playing. They were unaware of us watching them and we stood there for 2-3 blissful minutes observing them in the sunshine. These photos are part of a set of 20 odd photos I took. As I had the 14-42mm lens, I cropped a lot of them to get better detail.

That second squirrel is playing with fire. I'm guessing it has no idea there's a nest of large hawks in a tree just to the left and about 40 feet up. About 30 seconds before the second image, the male hawk had dropped off lunch at the nest, and it looked like a squirrel.
