Designed by Mies van der Rohe and built in 1929, this simple building meant to be a temporary exhibition building at the World's Exposition in Barcelona for Germany influenced Modern architecture for decades.

Stunning building... 1929! Only three years earlier Gaudi was still refining his designs for the Sagrada Familia (and he still would've been in 1929 if it hadn't been for the tram that ran him over and killed him)... as much as I love that building, this does make it seem old-fashioned...
