Micro 4/3 The evolution of Four Thirds to Micro Four Thirds lens design and catalogue.

Slightly off topic… Olympus Imaging (the camera division) was an amazing company; and I use the past tense deliberately since it no longer exists. They designed some amazing lenses, and of course a few dogs (remember the 17mm f2.8 pancake?). They also led the field in many camera design features - IBIS being the obvious one.

I sometimes wonder if they’d still be around if they had brought out an FF system in the 2015-2018 timescale. Whatever you think of the m43 vs FF. debate, what is objectively clear is that FF is the dominant format so far as sales, number of players in the market, and range of kit are concerned.

Their relative lack of interest in video might also have contributed to their demise of course.
They might have joined the L Mount Alliance and made their own versions of the classic OM cameras and lenses and left the M4/3s for sports and wildlife, at least until the sensor designed has evolved and lowered enough in price to do the speeds of OM-1 to FF.
At least that what I think and hoped it would happen. Dreams are for the dreamers it seems.
