Fuji The great X100V discussion thread (formerly "specs leaked")

Looking forward to some reviews on the improved lens. Overall this is a very exciting update.
* fuji, don't be cheap and include that weather sealing ring.

2 reviews so far and it sounds like they did include weather resistance to the X100V.

the lens also seems a big improvement.

dag gone you Fuji !! I was all set on saving some money and getting the used X100F. It seems that the upgrades are substantial enough.

maybe I can wait until my birthday or Christmas gift.

I’ll bet by Christmas it’ll be on sale - at least for a short while -at a $200 discount. If you see something like that at any time, be prepared to jump on it.

DPreview TV review:
The video itself is shot with an X100V and looks good. $1399 usd.

It appears that the 100V will be weather resistant. Sort of.
I'm confused not sure if the body is weather resistant or the lens because Clifford cameras are taking orders offering a free weather kit ?

It was more a reference to the Leica demographic - it consists of mostly financially secure older males. The Leica facebook groups are heavily populated with these guys and a fair number of them are posting photos of scantily clad young women over and over and over again. Each time one of them posts these soft porn photos, they're "liked" by the same old men over and over again. You couldn't recommend these Leica groups to other photographers or photography enthusiasts because these Leica groups look like a strip joint. It is quite frankly, embarrassing.

In the meantime over in the X100 groups, these cameras are more affordable and accessible, the members consists of a far more inclusive demographic of various age groups and gender. They're posting great photos of their families, their travels overseas, their everyday lives. They're also far more knowledgeable as a whole when it comes to composition and post-processing.

I have to agree with you. I left a "respected" Leica Facebook group last year. There was a small argument from one of the half dozen women photographers (at most!) because of a similar photo with no artistic merit. The amount of sneering rhetoric from some of them made me decide to leave without further ado. Let them get on with it. Instagram has better Leica photographers and it's easier to pick a few and follow them instead. I also follow Fuji Love etc and have seen some fantastic Fuji work there :).

I probably watched it unfold. There were a few of those arguments last year. In fact I started a stoush myself last year in one of those "respected" Leica groups after seeing photos of the same girl(s) posted over and over and over again.

as I understand it. The body is weather resistant. The lens on its own is not. Due to it extending out when focusing. But it is made weather resistant with the adapter for the TC and a filter on the lens. That is most likely the free weather kit being offered.

You know what the most disappointing thing was - that 'respected' facebook group had 4 active administrators. One of them was female. Not a peep from her. It took complaints from the decent male members about the pornographic photos before changes were made by the 4 administrators. And still not a peep from her.

Y'know, I sold my X100F last year, and later acquired a Sony RX100M3 to "replace" it.

It didn't.

Too much like a computer with a lens on the front.
Too small.
No in-camera raw development capability
Another app to use
Another battery charger
No "soul"

The Sony is now up for sale and the funds raised will go to paying for a lightly used X100F. I reckon if I'm careful I can score one for slightly less than I sold mine for.

Why not a V?

Tilty screen...

Yes, indeed. Not to tarnish all of them because a fair few members agreed but sadly the main admin felt unable to rectify the situation . I think he was the only admin to wade in.

No, Leeland, you misunderstood me. A tilty screen leaves me cold. The lens "improvement" has yet to be proven in real-world use and to be honest I had no issue with the previous lens formulation, finding it characterful rather than lacking.

I'm back with an F, for sure.

Tempting, oh so tempting. The TC and adapter on the front seems out of proportion, but image samples look good. Still, that's a lot of $$$ to scrape out from under the cushions, even if I could get a good return on my current Fuji gear.
