Cats The Requisite Cat (Kitty) Photo thread

Thanks for the comments!

Gary - I've never really walked Keesha with a leash. There's only been a couple of occasions when we've lost sight of each other but she'll go looking for me first and if she still can't find me, she'll go straight home and wait for me at the front door. She is now 13 this year and has difficulty walking because of arthritis, amongst other ailments.

Pelao - The little girl trying to make friends with Jadey, that was a gem of a moment. Her brother is a few years older and since that day he comes over to say hello if he sees me and asks about Jadey if she isn't there.

James,

I agree with Sue. You clearly know cats, and Jadey in particular, very well. I like all of them, and the photographs are very nicely finished. I find the fourth one the most intriguing; it captures that curiosity thing.

Thanks Luke, they're all with the same camera, a Leica M8.2.

Up to the start of this year, every shot was taken with a single lens Voigtlander 35mm f/1.4 MC which was all I could afford for two years after buying the Leica.

I managed to snag an awesome 1964 90mm elmarit at Christmas on eBay and so I've been taking a few pics with that lens since then so some of the shots above are from that lens.

I process all my shots in Lightroom.

Why are there massive holes in my flyscreen???

Here's why!

With what I am seeing of yours and others' Leica shots... there sure is something about them... The shots have a certain je ne sais quoi which you just don't see with other cameras.

I am sort of seeing a difference from when I process raw files from my Canon 7D. I don't know how to explain it but the Leica raw files are much more forgiving and there is a more subtle roll-off in the pixels. The Canon 7D files are great and there is a lot of latitude for processing but I find it's harsher.

I have another cat, Atom. While Keesha and Jadey are 13 and 12 respectively, Atom is two and a half years.

When he was young, he would crawl under the sheets and sleep on me:

We named him Atom after the original Japanese name for the cartoon character Astroboy because he was a ball of cheeky energy. When he's not sleeping, he's in motion:

Here is Jadey pre-empting an Atom-Attack by countering the attack with her own offensive, all in good fun:

Jadey sometimes crosses the road at night to visit her friends (or whatever she does over there, it's her neighbourhood). Here is Atom on our side of the road waiting for Jadey to come home:

Here he is with everyone else:
