Man, it's so exciting. Leica, Panasonic and Sigma have joined in strategic partnership to create the L Mount alliance, using the Leica L mount as the platform for new cameras and lenses.

Leica, Panasonic and Sigma will work together, announce L-mount alliance

Panasonic have announced two full frame cameras, three lenses, and promise ten lenses for this system by 2020.

Panasonic developing two full-frame mirrorless cameras with Leica L-mount

Sigma intend to develop a FULL FRAME FOVEON mirrorless camera using the L mount, which means Foveon goodness on a slew of Leica and Panasonic lenses.

Sigma to take Foveon full frame and adopt L mount

And because the L mount is quite adaptable, it means being able to use Canon glass with adapters, as well as legacy glass including Leica mount rangefinder lenses. Imagine being able to put Leica, Zeiss or Voigtlander RF lenses on freaking full frame Foveon sensor! Leica SL users will get more lenses from Panasonic including their upcoming 24-105mm f4 and 70-200mm. No doubt Sigma will join with L mount lenses.

I suppose the mount specification has to take into account the thickness of sensor filter solutions so that we don't absolutely get an L mount camera which produces smeared corners with adapted M glass?
