Olympus The OM System OM-3 is here

I was thinking that too but seeing how Fuji has released the X-M5 with about a 4-5 month gap between the silver and black models I wondered if OM Systems were adopting the same strategy.

I've been asking at a few stores around Melbourne and the official response was no black ones are being produced. There's some speculation that they might release a limited edition etc somewhere down the track, depending on sales.

I shipped it off to Olympus today (yes, it is called the "Olympus Repair Center"), they should have it on Monday.
FedEx did not deliver the OM-3 until late Monday. I got an email on Tuesday that the repair center had it, on Wednesday it showed shipped, and FedEx delivered it on Sunday. The receipt says that they replaced the sensor, no other details. All in all, I could not ask for a faster service so kudos to OM Systems. Nothing is perfect, things break, that is life.

Yeah, it's all about how they treat you when it breaks, and if they can properly fix it. Customer service is often what differentiates products and retailers.

Seems like low-hanging fruit to make a sale. I get not making one in every color, but black is pretty popular in cameraland.
I personally like the “panda” or silver and black mixed camera. It sure why that’s, but when I had my Oly EM-5 Mark II, I thought it was pretty sharp looking that way.

My Leica M240 and Fuji X100 I prefer in the 2 tone.

I have only had the one experience with Olympus repair (Portugal for the EU) and have nothing but praise for them.

My M.Zuiko 17mm was dropped dinged the rim and was pretty dead.

Anyway… Paid the fee and sent it off and got it back within 7 days.

Good as new. Even replaced the scratched rim which I didn't expect.

I have had a few repairs over the years, my fault drops like yours, and they have all exceeded my expectations.

I finally got to handle one of these in a local shop! It is a nice camera... I am a bit of broken record regarding build quality these days, even of metal-exterior cameras: they mostly feel too light to me, and this one is no exception. The body feels a tad delicate (though I'm sure it isn't in actuality). It is, however, nicely laid out, and the flatness of the body, with a small prime, would hang very nicely from the shoulder on a vacation or traveling. I like that the left hand has room for purchase when holding the camera up to the eye, much like an old film SLR.

Spoke too soon 😬 I took my OM3 on a trip this week and it would not connect to my phone/app. I tried a reset of the camera and a different SD card. I just put in another repair request so off it will go tomorrow 😞
Is it an android phone? I’ve always had issues with my OM1 and the android app ( but iPad connects seamlessly). I’m not convinced the om app for android is any good….

No, it is an iPhone. The OM3 will not even initialize. It worked fine before I had the sensor repair. Obviously they did not thoroughly test it before shipping it back to me.
