That's just BS IME. Most young cats bond strongly with their human/s, and quite strongly with most humans, if introduced to humans before 6-8-12 weeks old. After that critical period, most cats will not bond with humans much at all, even in a domestic environment.
Cats are not tribal/herd/social animals by nature, unlike humans and dogs, which are all three in most cases (the vast majority). The epigenetics of domestic cats appears to have changed towards being more social over the last couple of thousand years.
The main exception in cats are lions, which have a remarkably similar social structure to that of humans.
