Wyatt, my next door neighbor. He was lying asleep in one of my flower beds. I sat down next to him and he awake and began meowing very loudly, almost a cry.

I noticed one eye was not fully open as he came and plopped himself in my lap and promptly went to sleep.

He then began rowing his forelegs one by one in his sleep. It was really weird.

He did this for a while before I had to go on about my business.

In my handling him, he's lighter than he's ever been.

I sent my neighbor a text and he said they had been keeping an eye on him as he has had eye/sinus issues since they rescued him a couple of years back.

He said that Wyatt was eating well and they didn't know why he seemed to be losing weight.

I'll mention to Sean.
Chris, kidney failure can be ameliorated by:

1) having plenty of water available at multiple points around the house; and
2) using only dried cat food specifically formulated for aging cats with kidney problems. This is usually available from Vets, and is recommended for all pussycats over about 4-5 y.o.

Our cats, Rosa and Lizzie, both had Royal Canin dried food from about 5 y.o.until their deaths at around 21.5 y.o. While their kidneys were pretty ropey, they lasted the distance! They were both euthanased as a result of strokes, not renal failure.

Dry food available at supermarkets is usually not good for cats.

Our buddy Sarge was diagnosed with kidney disease. He wouldn't eat the dry food, only wet, except for Temptations, which he loved. He refused the prescribed food. My wife and I administered Ringers solution via I.V. twice a week for five years (he didn't like that) until his kidneys finally gave up. He was happy throughout all that time and his quality of life was good. His vets were astounded.

Good luck, have hope.

Because it's a relatively expensive lens with a large front element, I had a UV filter on the front since buying it 7 years ago. Today I took off the filter and I do perceive more sharpness even wide open at F/2. I'll just need to treat it with care

I would try a newer, better quality filter, Irene.

While my eyesight is nowhere near as good as it used to be, I still cannot tell the difference between with and without filters on my f/2.8 60 macro, 8-25, 12-100 and f/2.8 40-150. Although with the latter, I can discern slight degradation when using the MC-14 on it.
