I made a friend on my way to work yesterday morning.

I didn't think he would approach me but after trying to get a couple of pictures of him sitting on the very thin fence he was coming towards me, the poor NX500 was struggling to focus on him hence the wrong focus in this image.

And I extended my hand to see if he wanted to be friendly and he started rubbing his head with my hand while trying to balance himself on the thin fence (I wasn't pinching him).

He seems to really like head rubs.

And was even trying to lick my fingers ... I did eat a slice of salami that morning and one can never get rid of the delicious smell of those off your fingers.

I did tey to explain that I have to go to work and can't stay but he wasn't having it, kept following me on the fence (from the fence section above the blue bin all the way around the corner to the street name sign). Haf to say goodbye in the end.

For the first 8 years of his life Sarge was primarily my wife's best friend, he was always with her. But a when I came home after major surgery over 11 years ago, this was the view I most often had of him. I guess he was protecting me (but he also liked to lay like a leopard on a tree limb, and my upraised legs did the trick)

I swear they know when we're not well and come to comfort us; we've noticed this over the years with our various cats and appreciate them all the more for it
