The Urban Image Thread

These have become rare as most people use smartphones and most of the remaining "phone booths" have been vandlized and don't function any more. Of course Freiburg - the green town - makes a difference. I was born and brought up in a village some 20 kms from Freiburg and had an aunt living there. And I passed five years of my studies there with one year abroad in beautiful Edinburgh.

Our local bank branch in a busy shopping hub no longer handles cash *at all* and is purely a 'service branch' (and a very slow and useless one at that)
I think mobile payment services have taken over in Switzerland - a lot of people don't carry cash anymore ... I've needed maybe 500 Francs a year, if at all, and that's mostly travel related ...

"Renovated [in] 1978
without [the help of]
[any] curator of monuments
[any] head of the building control department
[any] municipal architect
[any] subsidy"

Non-conformists at work - and still owning the premises, apparently (if the curator of monuments hasn't had this preserved ...).

On a different note, I also realise that our usually rather convoluted language can, at times, be really quite succinct ...
