Not sure why I like this photo so much but I think a lot of it has to do with the light - sort of soft and muted, but glowing and contrasty at the same time. It almost looks like old Kodacolor film, from decades ago. And the contrast between the harsh, geometric buildings on top - and the dirt and rocks on the bottom - appeals to me.
"All Squid Are Sliced" -- I always took that to be a secret message for a spy or something. It reminded me of the line from The Shadow: "The sun is shining, but the ice is slippery" (P.S. Some great wide-angle videography in that movie)
