Whilst the building has a date of 1878, there is no evidence that the building was built in 1878. It may refer to the date William Letchford set up his aerated drinks business in partnership Frederick Thomas Crowder in Fremantle. However, it does not match with the dates reported in other sources. A mystery indeed.
