The colors, lighting, details, image quality and very real sense of place in these photos are all really wonderful, John! Your second and third are my personal favorites..beauty and decay...once proud places... There is so much power and poignancy in a place like this to my eyes, through your photos. I bet your friend really enjoyed his "tour".

For some background here's an overview of Urbex - also known as urban exploration from Wikipedia:

Urban exploration (often shortened as urbex or UE) is the exploration of man-made structures, usually abandoned ruins or not usually seen components of the man-made environment. Photography and historical interest/documentation are heavily featured in the hobby and, although it may sometimes involve trespassing onto private property, this is not always the case and is of innocent intention.[1] Urban exploration is also commonly referred to as infiltration, although some people consider infiltration to be more closely associated with the exploration of active or inhabited sites. It may also be referred to as draining (when exploring drains), urban spelunking, urban rock climbing, urban caving, or building hacking.

I have only been to one abandoned building since switching to Fuji. Hoping to get to more soon. If you don't mind, what are your preferred lenses for urbex on the Fuji system? I have my people lenses figured out, but not for urbex.

The fun stops when you have to live with indescribable decay all your life, like this little fella who's collecting drinking water from a broken pipe. While I was living there thousands of people died from drinking poisonous water just 50 miles downhill. As usual the international press didn't take any notice. I've got tons more, including stuff that nobody really wants to look at.

Well, here's some from a place where nobody is dying.

Went back to "Embersville" which was a large state hospital and wandered the underground utility, steam, and staff tunnels to see what I could find. More documentary than art mostly, but it was a fun thing to do on a rainy day. It ALWAYS rains when I visit this place, I kid you not.

Everything with the Fuji X-E2 with the 23mm Fujinon, or the X-M1 with the 12mm Zeiss.
