Fuji The XQ1 is here!

I'm sorry to say that I've not heard of said camera, however I love your ducks! I'll head over to see the set shortly. Just a quick question on translation - "please don't feed the ducks"? Great angle, Rico...either a tilt screen or you were on your stomach? :popcorm2:

You know in the duck photos, I prefer the sooc jpegs to the Irident. What did you feel?

P.S. Oops, thanks Bill!:biggrin_old: Yes, one mustn't be messy...or perhaps the ducks prefer their snacks dry?

I don't feel the lemming-urge to early-adopt, you see. It's the archer not the arrow. ;)

These days I put my money into glass first, throwaway techno-bodies second. Recently, I have been acquiring Fuji lenses at the rate of one a month - 27, 55-200 and a couple of days ago, 14mm - and then I shall keep my Fuji powder dry for the X-Pro2... Possibly :D

No love for the XQ1? I guess you are all happy with your brand-new XF1s, hm?

I don't have as much disposable income as some others (which is also why I have an X100 instead of the X100s) so in that sense, yes I'm quite happy with my XF1. :D

But big picture wise, I am glad to see Fuji improve on previous products.

Here's an example of a moving train at ISO 2500. The OIS is of no help here, so you need to set a reasonably fast shutter speed. In this case 1/200s.

Here's the SOOC JPEG:

Here's a version from Photo Ninja with luminance noise reduction switched off:

And here's a version from Iridient Developer with minimal luminance noise reduction:

As you can see, it's possible to make the noise look like a lot like analog film grain, and you can recover plenty of detail even from high-ISO shots linke this one.

Very capable indeed for such a tiny little thing.

And it's quick, too (maybe that's why there's the Q). These were taken following the kid on the moving merry-go-round with tracking AF-C at 1/250s and ISO 1600:

I think comparing it to X-E2 is confusing a lot of people. It has many new features that are the same as the X-E2. But it has a small X-Trans sensor inside, so the quality will be closer to the X20 or XF1..... a few steps down from the X100s or XE or X-Pro lines.

My point exactly, better expressed. Thank you.
