Having been a teacher and a father long enough, my suggestion would be first of all kids (ratther more realistic than storm). ;)
Walter, that did occur to me. But it seems surprising for the kids around here. we mostly dont get graffiti or other types of mischief. The other thing is the wind storm did blow a lot of leaves off. It is possible that it has been up there for sometime??

It's nothing surprising and not necessarily mischief, Don, even in good neighborhoods. Kids love fooling around without thinking much.
When my son once smashed our neighbor's window playing football I sent him over to tell them it was he who had done it and Daddy would pay for it. I made it clear to him that it's important not to run away but to own up to one's deeds.

After our heaviest storm years ago I collected my three sun umbrellas that I use on the balcony in the neighboring trees. The seat cushions were scattered over the neighboring gardens. The forces of a storm can really be frightening.
