This praying mantis does give you a critical eye, Miguel. But how did you manage to get it seated on your hand?

It's not my hand! I had just come out of a small coffee shop where I'd been having coffee with friends, and we noticed this lady with her hand open, moving very carefully towards a large flowerbed, where she obviously wanted to place the mantis. I asked her if it would be all right if I took its picture before she deposited it, and she graciously said Yes... so I did. And all the while it kept slowly turning its head, first one way, then the other - and I had the feeling that if I didn't hurry up and get at least one shot with my iPhone, it might jump away or fly away. So I did
