Essentially, you still have to wait for upload to finish before actually posting; sometimes, the image shows way before the upload is complete - check the attachment to make sure.
Anyway, not a lot of harm done. We just need to keep in mind that the distributed hosting scheme has its downsides.

Well, in the case of this thread, it was Steve (also in the States), and similar things have happened to me a couple of times, but not regularily with your images. But if it only happened so few times, I stand by the "upload time vs. server compression/processing time" assumption.
The images don't sit in one neat spot but on a cloud cluster that's synchcronizing over time. What's uploaded to one node isn't necessarily on all nodes instantly (it's virtually impossible), even if that's what's the promise. Everyone accesses the closest/best available instance; if there's a delay in synchronization, we all feel it. It's not that common, considering, but it can be irritating.
