(No, there's nothing especially worrying happening; I just like the music ...)

And, because one good brass band always deserves another, here is a wild recording-slash-music video of Fanfare Ciocarlia, the all-star gypsy brass band from Romania, playing a latin piece composed by the Colombian Lucho Bermúdez, and with guest solos by the remarkable Dutch trumpeter Maite Hontelé---

I love it.
Great rendition.
Great lyrics, too, at the end.
And pardon my extreme musical ignorance but -- who are Da Blechhauf'n, anyway? Where are they from and where do they (normally) play?
They're from Austria and do a typically upbeat/comical stage show. Musically, they're really ecclectic - they play whatever suits them.

They're strictly for German speakers (with a flair for southern/Bavarian dialects) usually, so don't worry about not knowing them - I didn't until quite recently, even though I probably had heard the name a few times earlier on ...

Okay, let's push it a little further ... Here are two more for you perusal ... Completely different, but each with its own flair.

First, brass comedy of the finest kind ... from master musicians (academics, no less).

And now for something completely different, something I know well enough:

"Brooklyn" is one we play as well (the street band, that is) - minus the effects towards the end, though ;) Also check out "Crescent City" ...

The Youngblood Brass Band's version of 'Brooklyn' is quite cool...and you can't really blame them for trying to spice up the ending. Although, honestly, it would be even cooler...to hear a recording of YOUR street band playing Brookyn, Matt. Or perhaps a video version of Matt & the Madmen, doing it? I would pay to see that...!!! But the piece by the Mnozil Brass band is priceless! Thank you so much for posting this, Matt - and once more expanding our (and my!) musical horizons!!!

Thanks for the invitation (dangerous, dangerous); I have to postpone posting links to our versions (and it's not *my* band, I'm just a member - they'd been going for almost 20 years before I joined) until there are some new live - or studio - ones; rehearsal recordings are often messy and less-than-ideal, and we haven't been able to generate anything else over the last 18 months, as you might imagine ...

I saw Mnozil Brass live in Lucerne a couple of years back - they're fantastic; just imagine the show going on for two solid hours! I'll be back in the audience next time they visit ...

And I just had an idea what to post for tomorrow's (477) thread - yay! :)
