Night walk

Went hiking high atop one of the local mountains, Mt. Ashland - which gave me a perspective of the literal sea of wildfire smoke to the south of us. Here, you can see Mt. Shasta, in the distance, rising out of what appears to be a sea of whitish 'fog' - but in fact, that fog is smoke from the forest fires to the south and southeast, which literally are blanketing the horizon, as far as the eye can see. The smoke creates a beautiful visual effect, but its real-life effects are much more complex and, in these days of ever increasing environmental problems due largely to global warming, more troubling.

But as a side note, the GX9 has become one of my favorite cameras to shoot monochrome with. Here I am using the internal l.monochrome.d jpeg setting, slightly tweaked in post to give a little more overall contrast.
